Landscape photography workshops

I am delighted to announce that dates for my 2013 Landscape photography workshops are now available. These one to one sessions are tailored for the beginner and intermediate photographer wishing to develop and improve their landscape technique. Workshop locations will include the beautiful South Hams region of Devon, the North coast of Devon & Cornwall and Dartmoor, these can also be tailored to your specific requirements.

Capturing the light of Dartmoor Workshop

A typical half day workshop will be spent out on the moor capturing magic light at either sunrise or sunset. These image making sessions last around 4 hours and provide a great opportunity for beginner and intermediate photographers to develop an understanding of:

  • Effective composition and the use of light.
  • The use of manual mode and manual focussing for ultimate control over your image making.
  • Technical aspects such as; ISO, aperture, using the histogram, the light meter and long exposures.
  • Depth of field.
  • The use of filters and polarisers.

Workshops are tailored to your specific requirements and flexibility is key to a successful shoot. Locations can be selected by yourself or I can select some breathtaking locations for you.

It goes without saying that if the weather is persistently bad then we can reschedule to another suitable date/particular time of day. However it is worth bearing in mind that some of the best light out on the moor can be captured during changing weather conditions. Should you wish to bring along a fellow photographer you can select this option from my shop page.

A Celebration of Summer - Dartmoor to the Coast Workshop
    (Pre Book 1st June - 28th August 2013)

Shooting from sunrise to sunset taking in some fantastic landscape vistas throughout the day, tuition takes place on location, in a relaxed yet informative learning environment. The day is structured around you, building in plenty of time to put into practice your learning as it develops, with opportunities for reflection to consolidate your understanding.

Think of the day as two very distinct extremes - the rugged rocky outcrops of Dartmoor National Park and the picturesque coastal landscape of the North Coast of Devon & Cornwall. These image making sessions last around 10 hours and provide a great opportunity for beginner and intermediate photographers to develop a sound understanding of:

  • Effective composition and understanding the use of light.
  • The use of manual mode and manual focussing for ultimate control over your image making.
  • Technical aspects such as; ISO, aperture, using the histogram, the light meter and long exposures.
  • Depth of field.
  • The use of filters and polarisers.

One to one full day workshops cost £180, however if you would like to bring along a fellow photographer the cost of tuition for two will be £250 for you both.

Workshops are tailored to your specific requirements and flexibility is key to a successful shoot. Locations can be selected by yourself or I can select some breathtaking locations for you.

"Hi Gary I'd just like to thank you for an excellent workshop last week. It was an afternoon very well spent. You explained the techniques involved with landscape photography in an easily understandable away and the advice you gave as in the best way to use the settings on my camera has really improved my technique a lot.
